Energy Star Day
The Energy Star Day (October 23, 2019) is a celebration of the things that have been accomplished in the world through programs created by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA Energy Star program is a helpful tool that people have used for almost two decades to learn how to reduce electricity and save cash. Energy Star Day commemorates the extensive partnerships that have been formed with the EPA and businesses.
The governmentally backed Energy Star symbol enables customers to choose products that are energy efficient and environmentally safe. The purpose of the Energy Star label is to reduce the harmful environmental impact of greenhouse emissions and other pollutants caused due to improper utilization.
The EPA sets specific stringent standards that need to be achieved if a product is to get the coveted little blue label. A product must be able to demonstrate significant energy savings while still delivering functionality expected by the customer. An Energy Star product might cost more than a less efficient alternative product, but the purchase cost can be recovered over the lifetime of the product.
Because of the Energy Star program, consumers and business owners have collectively managed to save over 300 billion dollars in their energy bills over the 22 years. Over 2 billion tons of dangerous greenhouse gas emissions have been avoided due to this program. These stats prove the power of the blue energy star label.
The Energy Star Day happens every year on the fourth Tuesday of October, and its purpose is to raise awareness amongst the general public about the importance of energy conservation. The community effort in education and the spread of knowledge contributes to the effectiveness of the program. The program inspires people to think about the ways they can help contribute to an energy-efficient consciousness through their neighborhoods and cities.
